ART SIZING GUIDE

Choosing the right artwork size can transform your space and help your piece feel intentional rather than misplaced. Use this guide to find the size that best fits your wall and the feeling you want your space to hold.

Small Pieces (8×10 – 11×14)

Small artworks are perfect for creating intimate moments in your space. They work beautifully on shelves, desks, bedside tables, or as part of a gallery wall. These pieces add a thoughtful touch without overwhelming the room.

Best for:

  • Bookshelves and styled shelving
  • Nightstands
  • Small wall spaces
  • Gallery walls with multiple pieces

Medium Pieces (16×20 – 18×24)

Medium pieces create a noticeable focal point while still feeling balanced within a room. They work well above furniture or as a standalone piece in smaller areas.

Best for:

  • Above desks
  • Entryways
  • Bedrooms
  • Small living room walls

Tip: Leave about 6–12 inches of space between the artwork and nearby furniture to keep the room feeling open and balanced.

Large Statement Pieces (24×36 and larger)

Large artwork makes a bold statement and instantly draws the eye. These pieces anchor a room and create a sense of presence and atmosphere.

Best for:

  • Above sofas or beds
  • Dining rooms
  • Large blank walls
  • Entryway statement pieces

Tip: When placing art above furniture, aim for artwork that is about 2/3 the width of the furniture for the most balanced look.

Choosing the Right Size for Your Wall

If you're unsure which size to choose, try this simple method:

  1. Measure the wall space where the art will hang.
  2. Select artwork that covers 60–75% of the available wall width.
  3. Use painter’s tape on the wall to outline the size before purchasing to visualize the scale.
